Gear Up For Knicks Basketball

Knicks Win and Welcome Back Chubbs

November 20th, 2009 at 1:48 pm

Knicks-Bobcats

Fat man Curry puts up 10, Chandler shows Donnie boy that he wants to continue to be a growing Knicks crop with 18pts, Harrington leads all scorers with 26 and Larry “freaking” Hughes gets the gold star, putting up 22 points 10 rebounds and 7 assists.

But what’s more surprising than any of that is the Knicks coming away with the victory…on the road! Wednesday night in Indiana was the setting for the Knickerbockers’ 2nd win of the season as they improve to 2-9, two games ahead of dead last thanks to the winless Nets.

The 110 points must have made D’Antoni smerk as the Knicks scored flawlessly in the 4th quarter putting up 34 points to take and keep the lead. Five players scored in the double digits including Mr. Eddy “Triple Whopper” Curry who snagged 4 rebounds to go with 10 points in only 11 minutes. Knick fans have been waiting for his debut for a couple of seasons but it was D’Antoni’s scale that kept him out of a lot of action recently.

Curry looked slim..er than normal and showed he still can be the big man down low for New York (this season at least). While Knicks fans should be hesitant to welcome him back too soon, I think they can start dreaming of a time later this season where they win a few more ball games thanks to the big man being on the hardwood.

Larry Hughes made me eat my socks Wednesday night or at least nibble them. He silenced his haters (me being hater number 1) for one night showing his potential. It would be great to have Hughes give Knicks fans something to go to the games for but I have a strong feeling that this was just one great game for Hughes; one of few. But I would love for him to prove me wrong.

Gallinari was nowhere to be found Wednesday scoring no points and snagging only 2 rebounds. But with Hughes going off on the Pacers and Curry making his debut you can understand why it was his turn to sit down. The Knicks are trying hard to make him the new young face of the team, but I’m scared to think that it may be to cover their draft pick wasting asses and not because they actually believe he can ball.

The Knicks should have win number three on Saturday considering they’re playing the only team in the East with a worse record than them: the New Jersey Nets. That would improve their record to 3-9 and set them up for the toughest back-to-back games they’ll have all season: Celtics at home Sunday, Lakers on the road Tuesday.

Let’s be honest and say that the Knicks will lose both of those games and be 3-11 come Tuesday night. That’s still pretty terrible but it’s better. The Knicks don’t need to do anything but get better. The word playoffs shouldn’t be uttered by any Knicks fan and winning should be as important as it is in first grade soccer matches. Each player on the team needs to do nothing more but hone their first t-ball coach and figure out how to improve and go from there.

Thank God the Knicks won Wednesday and stopped the bleeding at 9. They already have the record for worst start to a Knicks season ever, there was no need to build on it and man am I glad they didn’t. So buck up Knicks fans and remember it’s not about whether you win or lose; it’s how you play the game.

Knicks are horrible, I have to suffer these bums the whole season.

Bright spot Toney Douglas, great draft pick. Watched this guy carry a Florida St. team in the ACC, great hard nose guard.

Don't get me started on Larry Hughes, a chucker of 3 pointers, yet we suck so much we need his offensive "prowess."
